Adult Tutoring

Adult Tutoring is a program that provides trained volunteers to work individually with adults 18 and over who can speak and understand English and who read and/or write below a Grade Nine level. Adult learners may work with their tutors on skills such as reading, writing, comprehension and numeracy.

Adult Tutoring is funded by:

The Program:

  • One-on-one tutoring sessions for 1-2 hours a week for at least 6 months
  • A library of learning and resource materials
  • Small group workshops
  • Opportunity to meet other learners at the Centre

The Benefits:

  • Learners gain more confidence
  • Learners gain skills in reading, writing, and numeracy
  • Learners have access to other learning opportunities
  • Learners prepare for better job opportunities

Library Resource Centre

The Library houses a collection of over 4,000 titles. Our collection includes specialized workbooks for adult literacy learners, tutor resources, fiction and nonfiction material assessed for various reading levels.

Material is free for all learners, tutors, and those utilizing our programs. Please call to make an appointment if you would like to visit our Library.

Library hours are:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
