We’re seeking tutors to help adult learners improve their reading, writing, math, and/or digital literacy skills! Meet one-on-one every week and work toward your learner’s literacy goals. We pride ourselves on our matching process, considering your interests, availability, and skills to find the perfect learner for you.
Volunteer on your schedule! We’ll find a learner who can meet when you can; just spend about 30 minutes per week on lesson planning before meeting face to face for an hour.
Every CFL tutor receives training and ongoing support from our hardworking staff. You also have access to our digital and physical resource libraries so you can choose fun and engaging activities for your lessons.
We are currently offering tutoring via distance learning (across Alberta) and in-person (Edmonton and area only). When meeting in person, tutors and learners meet in safe, public spaces that are comfortable and accessible for both parties.
Support our staff as a co-facilitator for family literacy programs around the city of Edmonton! Our family programs use stories, games, and songs to develop early literacy skills.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to dip their toes into literacy programming. As a co-facilitator, you would help set up and clean up program materials, welcome families to the program, take attendance, and actively participate in program activities. We also ask that you present at least two activities (songs/stories/games) to the group during the 10-week session. Before the first week, you will have an opportunity to chat with your program facilitator to review responsibilities and see how they like to run the program.
Program sessions run in the Winter (January to March), Spring (April to June), and Fall (September to December). Scroll down to view current opportunities.
We’re seeking co-facilitators to support our staff in welcoming learners to our online family literacy programs! Our family programs use stories, games, and songs to develop early literacy skills.
As a co-facilitator, you would primarily be responsible for backend tasks to make sure the program runs smoothly on Zoom: taking attendance, re-naming participants, and monitoring the chat. You are also welcome (but not required) to present a song or story yourself! We provide 30-minutes of hands-on training to ensure you feel comfortable and supported as you begin in this role.

Our adult book clubs are designed to help build confidence and literacy skills for adult literacy learners and English language learners. Volunteer Co-Facilitators support our staff and lead shared readings and discussions with small groups of learners in a Zoom breakout room.
We request that Co-Facilitators have basic knowledge of Zoom and the google workspace (docs, sheets, etc.). Every co-facilitator receives a training manual for working with adult learners and ongoing support from our hardworking staff.
